Places to visit in Karaisalı

Karaisali is one of the routes that can be preferred for daily tours, as it is one of the closest districts to Adana city center and has very impressive touristic values.

Among the places to visit in Karaisalı, there are many  natural values as well as historical values that will take you back to the past.

Karaisali is located in the transition area between Çukurova and the Taurus Mountains. Karaisali is a geography where the rivers, which draw their way by breaking the Taurus Mountains, give us picnic and swimming areas as they reach the plain.

Varda Bridge: The Varda Bridge, whose reputation exceeds the borders of Turkey also  some the scenes of the James Bond Sky Fall movie took place here. It impresses those who see it with its height, size and magnificence. The bridge, also known as the German Bridge,  was built by the Germans a century ago within the scope of the Baghdad Railway project, almost defies time. When you go to the Varda Bridge, we recommend you to watch a train pass over it and to see/photograph the bridge from different angles by visiting the walking path around it. Thanks to the newly built suspension bridge, you can reach Kapıkaya Canyon, another beauty of Karaisalı, with a pleasant walk from here. There are also very successful catering establishments serving local foods around the bridge and in the nearby Kıralan Village.

Kapıkaya Canyon: Kapıkaya Canyon, formed by Çakıt River, by carving the chalky land, fascinates those who go with its magnificent view of the rocks, rich vegetation and 7 km long walking path. We especially recommend you to see the part of the canyon, around Kapıkaya Village, in the south of the two entrances, and where the rocks come very close to each other and create impressive views. The other entrance of the canyon leads to the Yerköprü Recreation area. It is a pleasant walking path with the view of the track between the two entrances of Kapıkaya. There are camellias, sitting areas and toilets for picnics around the waterfall, which is located in the middle of the canyon and flows in spring. At the Kapikaya entrance of the canyon, there are restaurants that serve meat, as well as businesses that sell local foods such as sıkma and pastry.

Dokuzoluk Recreation Area: Located in the region where the Eğlence creek splits the hills and forms a canyon, Dokuzoluk takes its name from the nine springs located here. It is one of the most beautiful spots to have a picnic and swim in the natural pool in Karaisali. Since it is a very popular place and preferred by the local people, we recommend those who want to have a picnic here to go early or choose a day other than sunday.

Körkün Canyon: Another important branch of the Seyhan River, Körkün Stream emerges from the Taurus Mountains and people can enter the canyon from the point where it reaches the plain. Those walking along the canyon come across ponds, waterfalls, and rich vegetation to swim in its ice-cold water. If you go further, you will encounter nature scenes that will immerse you in another world, which can be seen in the Avatar movie. Körkün Canyon is one of the most preferred spots for camping. Especially in summer, nature and excursion clubs organize nature walks on the watery track here.

Kızıldağ Highland: It is a plateau that dates back to centuries and is very preferred to get rid of the heat of Adana, especially in summer. During the Ramazanoğlu Principality reigning in Adana, it was used as a summer pasture. With its rich vegetation, wildlife and clean air, Kızıldağ Plateau is a place that will make its visitors forget the Mediterranean heat. With its butchers and restaurants, dessert shops, it offers nice and enjoyable alternatives to visitors whose appetite increases in cool weather. It is flooded with visitors in August with its 6-century-old traditional Karakucak wrestling organisation.

Bayrampaşa Caravanserai: which was built by Grand Vizier Bayram Pasha for the accommodation of the army during IV Murad’s Baghdad expedition, is also known as Kesri Han among the people. The building, whose walls are intact today, will fascinate you with its magnificence. If you go here, be sure to watch the view of Çukurova and Çakıt stream over the walls.

Yerköprü: Yerköprü is one of the most special places to be seen in Karaisalı. It takes its name from the fact that Çakıt Stream sinks under the ground and emerges from 300 meters ahead and forms a natural bridge. It is a much visited place with its springs and waterfalls gushing from everywhere and its green nature. In addition to operating a private restaurant, camellias are also rented to picnickers.

Karapınar Park: Located in the Karaisalı district center, the park is preferred by picnickers and those who want to cool off with its natural spring water and successful landscape. The free camellias around the Tol Stream, which flows right next to it, are preferred for breakfast and lunch. There is a fountain, parking lot, toilet and children's playgrounds.
